GEORGE TELFER George trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and has performed extensively in theatre all over the country, favourite roles including Sir Robert Morton in The Winslow Boy, John Barrett in Dangerous Obsession, Arthur in The Fancy Man, Molina in Kiss of the Spiderwoman, Davis in The Caretaker, Greg in Sixteen Sonorous Stones, Andrew Wyke in Sleuth, Mitchum in The Long the Short and the Tall, Inspector Nelson in Rat in the Skull and Ellyot in Private Lives. National tours include playing Lane and Merriman in The Importance of Being Earnest (also for Middleground Theatre Company), The Bare Necessities, Dr Rance in What the Butler Saw, Malvolio in Twelfth Night and Carnoustie Bligh in Sailor Beware. On film George has played the part of villain Graham Winslet in the Dr Who Auton Trilogy and has recently completed the part of Charles Wells in the yet-to-be-released Innocent Crimes for Carpathian Films, and on television he played Richard Coulson in six episodes of Emmerdale. George has written and performed two one-man plays – Gielgud, A Knight in the Theatre, and Burton’s Last Call (about Sir John Gielgud and Richard Burton respectively!) Last year George played the Duke of Edinburgh in another solo show, Do You Still Throw Spears at each Other? Also last year George played Leonato in Much Ado About Nothing, the flagship production for the newly formed Derby Live, and Frank in Educating Rita at Buxton Opera House – a production to whose revival at Derby Playhouse later this summer George is very much looking forward. |
