4. Before any of the set can be assembled, the lights have to be “pre-rigged”. This means we have to have the correct lights in position on the lighting bars ready for the show. This is usually done the day before our arrival, so the first task is to get the huge backcloths hung on their lighting bars so they can be pulled up to the grid (the roof of the stage area) out of the way.

5. Meanwhile, the set continues to come in at quite a pace. The crew on stage must work quickly to ensure that they do not hold up the unloading of the lorry as much as possible.

6. The costumes, which have been carefully wrapped and stored from the previous week’s performances, are one of the first things out of the lorry. This enables the team to start preparing the 15 dressing rooms for the cast, who will arrive around 5pm the following evening.
