Theatre work includes premieres of Pretend You Have Big Buildings (Manchester Royal Exchange), Not The Love I Cry For (Arcola), Fever Pitch (West End/National tour) (nominated Best Actor by Manchester Evening News), The Football Factory (national tour), Brighton ‘til I Die, Steven Berkoff’s Brighton Beach Scumbags (Brighton Theatre Events), Red All Over (Paddock Productions), Pretty Vacant (Pleasance). Other theatre includes An Evening With Gary Lineker, Only When I Laugh, Too Much Punch for Judy. He created the role of Steve in the original production of Meeting Joe Strummer at the Gilded Balloon Edinburgh in 2006 which won a Fringe First.
Television work includes Whistleblowers, Sense and Sensibility, Casualty, Midsomer Murders, The Day Britain Stopped, Murphy’s Law, Is Harry on the Boat?, Vital Signs, Woof, The Bill, EastEnders, Holby City, Bookworm, and London’s Burning. Film and Short films include South West Nine, Through the K-Hole, World of Wrestling and Dave and David.
His interest in new writing has also led him into film production. He co-wrote and was Associate Producer of the film South West Nine and was also Associate Producer of The Football Factory and Dolphins. He has just directed his first short film, ‘Cregan’ funded by The Film Council under the Digital Shorts scheme.
He first saw the The Clash when he was 15 in June 1980 at Bristol Colston Hall. He met Joe Strummer and Mick Jones after the gig and asked Joe if he would do an interview for his fanzine ‘What the Rich are Doing’. Joe said he would, but the fanzine died after one issue so they never did the interview. He met him once again after a Mescaleros gig in Brighton in Nov 2001, the year before Joe died in December 2002. Those 22 years are the inspiration for this play.
