Zoie began her professional training at thirteen when she gained a place in the prestigious National Youth Theatre of Great Britain, affording her the opportunity to work in professional theatre at the Bloomsbury, London (They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?) and at the BBC (Forest People, directed by Douglas Hodge).

Zoie later trained at Leeds University Workshop Theatre where she founded a professional workshop training programme for actors, working with practitioners including choreographer Struan Leslie; voice coaches Em Whitfield and Hilary Thomas; actor and director Toby Jones; Marjorie Forbes-founder of Hysteric Physical Theatre and masters of improvisation Jonathan Kay and The Weird Sisters.

Zoie has toured extensively both in the UK and across Europe.
Theatre credits include: The Lulu Plays, Accidental Death of an Anarchist and Rockaby (Leeds Workshop Theatres); Vanya -Taken from Chekhov (devised piece with Unlimited Theatre Co); Sore Throats (directed by Katie Read); Happy hour (Mind the…Gap); The Lesson (Theatre of The Dales); Jarry (Hull Truck theatre); The Canterbury Tales (musical-Alive and Kicking); Parlour Games (musical-CragRats Theatre); The Marquise (Bill Kenwright Ltd National Tour); Ten Times Table (Windsor Theatre Royal) and Educating Rita, playing Rita alongside Stephen McGann’s Frank (Hereford Courtyard). Zoie also tours nationally with improvised comedy shows (Laughlines Ltd).

Despite her theatre background Zoie is best known for her role as Staff Nurse Meryl Taylor in ITV’s successful nostalgic drama The Royal (series 1-5) for which she was nominated for Best Newcomer at the 2003 National Television Awards.
Other Television appearances include Doctors, Emmerdale, This is Personal, Holby City and Deb the Web (YTV/NSFTV film).

Zoie also recently co- wrote/produced/presented Life goes On, a documentary of the post Tsunami recovery work in Thailand which she, fellow actor Paul Fox and camera operator Louise Ready were involved in (BBC / READYVISION productions).

Zoie’s passion is travelling and she has back-packed around the world, dived the barrier reef, sky dived in New Zealand, ridden through the jungles of Guatemala, investigated sacrificial cave systems in Belize and snorkelled with sharks and eagle rays! Next on her wish-list is climbing Kilimanjaro!
