Fleur Chandler

Fleur played Lady Bracknell in The Importance of Being Earnest in1970 and is delighted to be playing it again. There were seasons at the RSC, and the National Theatre (Coriolanus, Henry V1, ‘Tis Pity She’s a Whore, Queen Christina) and Chichester (Lady Kerrigan in Tovarich – with Tony Britton). Other roles include Gertrude in Hamlet at Harrogate, Ase in Peer Gynt at the Arcola Theatre, Lucia Joyce in Simples of the Moon at the Lyric Hammersmith, Muriel in Talking Heads at Ipswich and Lady Markby in An Ideal Husband at the Lyric, Belfast. Also Mary in Nell Dunn’s Cancer Tales and Amanda in The Glass Menagerie (twice).

Numerous television appearances include Lady Weir in Emmerdale, Holby City, The Bill, Casualty, One Foot in the Grave, Ansolute Power, London’s Burning, Partners in Crime and, if you can remember that far back, It Ain’t Half Hot Mum. Radio is no stranger to her voice and she has read books for the Isis label, Oasis, and the RNIB’s Talking Book Service, and is a member of InterAct Reading Service which provides actors for the only live and interactive reading service for stroke patients in Britain.
