Glyn Owen (Howards Way) played Rafe Crompton in this piece which earned Middle Ground critical acclaim back in 1992: “A fine vintage indeed, brought brilliantly to life by Middle Ground”.

A spring tea time in the Crompton household and daughter Hilda (Sam Power from Prince Among Men) refuses to eat her herring. Rebellion breaks out when brother Wilf (Nick Cochrane) secretly comes to Hilda’s defence. By Sunday teatime the situation has become explosive, bringing us to laughter and tears.

This production was a Manchester Evening News Theatre Awards Winner in 1998.
