A native Londoner, Richard was born in the borough of Lewisham. He went to school in Tunbridge Wells where he developed his acting talent through various school productions of Gilbert and Sullivan.
Later he signed up to study a degree at Manchester University but soon realised that his main interest was theatre. Richard auditioned for RADA and left Manchester to take up his calling!
Three years later Richard graduated and went straight into the repertory theatre world, building up his experience and credits. He went to the National Theatre, where he appeared in the original casts of the highly successful Guys & Dolls and The Beggar’s Opera. Richard also premiered in the West End productions of Chicago, Streets of London and The Hired Man.
Richard featured in the original feature film version of London’s Burning as Fire Officer Albert Quigley, “Sicknote”, which he has gone on to play for a further eleven series and over one hundred and fifty episodes.
Recent work includes appearing in the Heartbeat Holiday Special, Daddy’s Girl and Doctors. He has starred in previous Middle Ground tours of An Ideal Husband, Present Laughter and Dial M For Murder.
